We have a very exciting opportunity for a Head of Urban Systems to join Dynniq’s Technology team based in Basingstoke.

What you will do

The main purpose of the role is to lead the architecture, product delivery, project delivery, development, support and continuous improvement of the software, hardware and systems that make up Dynniq’s Urban technology solutions.

The Urban Systems team has the people, control of processes, and the empowerment to provide industry leading client solutions and services, with the goal of creating differentiated offerings for our current and future customers, and is a significant contributor to Technology’s plan to grow annual revenues, with higher gross margins.

The Head of Urban Systems works closely with other members of the Technology senior management team to ensure close collaboration on innovation, market development, product lifecycle delivery and major project delivery, and is central to growing and sustaining a culture of commercial innovation across Technology and other departments. The Head of Urban Systems also acts as primary interface and manager of partners and suppliers in the technology supply chain.

  • Urban Systems revenue budget and targets
  • Management and control of R&D costs
  • System functionality and reliability
  • Project delivery on time, in budget and delighting the customer experience
  • Malfunctions and bugs, time to fix repairs
  • Product lifetime performance
  • System enhancements and improvements
  • Efficiency and utilisation of employees and other resources
  • Contribution to innovation
  • Billable utilisation

What we are looking for

In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:

  • A technical, engineering or scientific degree or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Professional qualification and membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial drive and evidence of delivering profitable growth in a developing business or business area.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery high value projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in developing, articulating, promoting and delivering innovative product technology solutions that have solved clients’ problems and generated significant profit.  Ideally, this experience will have involved smart infrastructure, intelligent mobility or smart cities, and with private sector and public sector clients
  • Relevant senior management experience with dynamic leadership skills.  
  • P&L management, either in a project/programme management environment, or in a business unit.
  • Experience of working with public sector, private sector, tier one suppliers or supply chain organisations.
  • Experience of leading highly technical employees (e.g. engineers, developers, software and hardware experts).
  • Commercially and financially astute, with a strong focus on clients and markets.
  • Willingness to travel and reside overnight, dependent upon business needs.
  • Full driving licence
