We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join us as an Electro Mechanical CAD Engineer.

What you will do

As part of the Design & Development Department, the CAD Engineer will be responsible for the design, development & support of cost effective products and solutions to meet the needs of the ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) industry. This includes the production of detailed design drawings, in both 2D (AutoCAD) & 3D (SolidWorks) formats, and the associated Bills of Materials (BOM’s). 

Due to the nature of the ITS industry this includes developing products to meet defined industry standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the preparation of design specifications at a product, system and sub-subsystem level.
  • Implementation and verification of product designs to meet an agreed specifications.
  • Modification and maintenance of existing product designs.
  • Supporting the business in the delivery of approved products.
  • Working to the company quality and development processes.

Customer service is key to delivery as well as ensuring that QHSE regulations and procedures are followed at all times.

What we are looking for

In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:

  • Suitable qualification (HNC/D) and experience in a suitable engineering subject or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a similar technical role with involvement in a number of areas of product lifecycle management.
  • Experience in the design & development of Sheet Metal, Machined, Fabricated and Moulded components.
  • Demonstrable experience in both 2D (AutoCAD) & 3D (SolidWorks) design packages.
  • Able to demonstrate Continuous Professional Development.
  • Good communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Proven and demonstrable ability in the development, implementation and support of hardware (mechanical) products.
  • Keenness to develop technical knowledge.
  • Willing to travel and stay overnight when required, normally domestically, however infrequently within Europe.
  • Full UK driving licence.
