We are looking to recruit a Data Scientist with research affinity to join Dynniq’s centralised data lab, reporting to the CDO.

What you will do

The datalab is a key contributor to the digital transformation in the smart mobility and connected infrastructure business of Dynniq. The first assignment of the data scientist will be to lead a long term innovative European research project in the Dynniq research team, focusing on ‘optimization of flow on traffic corridors’. As part of the datalab the data scientist is closely linked to Dynniq Group development of smart mobility products and services to improve traffic flow and reduce emission. In addition you will be involved in IoT and data solutions in the domain of connected infrastructure, such as public lighting and intelligent control systems in bridges, sluices and tunnels, in which Dynniq is a strong international player.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a data scientist who is willing to engage in a longer term (2 years) European research project, with a significant data science and engineering component in the field of optimization of flow on traffic corridors. Cooperation with other companies in the project comes natural to you, as well as presenting results.

You may come from a science background, know your math and statistics and know how to apply this to actual problems. You enjoy programming and have experience with machine learning, modeling and data engineering. You know how to create visualisations in order to tell a story.

As a data scientist you are capable of rapidly learning about the domain you are working in, while taking up the challenge of making sense of operational and otherwise collected data. You communicate well and are capable of explaining what you do in understandable terms. You do not expect data to be clean, concise, well organized, consistent or complete. You understand the strengths and weaknesses of different models and can effectively reason about when to apply various combinations.

The Data Scientist role is an important senior position, therefore at least 4 years of relevant professional experience is required. In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:

  • A level scientific education and at least 4 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience within a data science role.
  • Affinity with international research is a pre.
  • Excellent communicator with high level of verbal and written skills.
  • Proven mathematics, statistics and machine learning competence.
  • Analysis tool experience: e.g. Python + Pandas / R / Matlab
  • Software engineering capability.
  • Hands-on experience with databases: relational databases, Hadoop / Hive / Spark / MapReduce/ NoSQL.
