We have a vacancy for a Production Assembler to join our team based on the outskirts of Melsonby. Melsonby is just a few minutes from the A1 which provides easy access to our recently built Production facility and offices. SWARCO Traffic Ltd are a market leading brand in traffic management systems.

Principle Roles / Responsibilities 

Working in a welcoming, supportive and friendly environment you will be required to undertake electrical assembly / wiring of SWARCO UK products in accordance with quality control standards. There may also be a requirement for simple product testing in accordance with your immediate Supervisors instructions (product training will be provided). 

Following your Line Manager / Supervisors’ instructions, you will be required to work to drawing specifications, wiring / circuit diagrams, SOPs (standard operating procedures) and working instructions (method sheets). Training is given and will be reviewed by you and your line manager throughout your 6-month probationary period. A forklift truck licence is an advantage however, training can be given to enable forklift duties.

You will be responsible for self-inspection of your own work and when requested by your immediate supervisor, inspection of others' work, as and when required. 

You shall ensure safe transportation of products within the factory / external storage areas, always maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and following safe working practices.

Skills and Attributes

  • Experienced in electro / mechanical assembly
  • Previous cable assembly experience
  • Experienced in using a variety of hand and power tools
  • Competent at soldering, crimping and general wiring skills, as well as detecting workmanship issues 
  • Experience in understanding technical drawings
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work on own initiative, as well as  part of a team is essential
  • Manual dexterity

Supporting Roles Responsibilities 

Flexibility of role is required and during periods of low load within the factory.   You may also be required to undertake simple factory improvements (i.e. 5s, painting / cleaning etc.) as instructed by your immediate Supervision or the Production Manager
