Description

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Production Supply Chain Manager to join the Procurement team. The location for this role is Melsonby, North Yorkshire.

What you will do        

You will lead the purchase and planning of all components, assemblies and services to agreed production plans for both mainline products and project requirements. To develop partnerships and relations through liaising, meetings and negotiations with suppliers to ensure deliveries within terms, conditions and company policies. the Production Supply Chain Manager will also be responsible for all stock purchases and supplier stocking arrangements in support of production requirements, maintaining minimum stock levels whilst not impacting customer order lead times. You will also be required to take a principal role in the maintenance, development, updating and control of SAP, including MPS and MRP.                                                                               

Some key performance indicators 

·         To manage the production of MRP and MPS reports to ensure requirements are accurately identified to enable purchase of materials to meet production requirements.

·         To organise the placement of purchase orders to fill the MRP requirements each week and hence maintain component supply in accordance with the production plan.

·         To oversee all stock takes within the company and to ensure the highest level of accuracy practically possible is achieved in conjunction with the Stock & Stores Manager.

·         To manage the stock aspects of SAP including regular reviews, and audits of stock items, price and all key details.

·         By the use of minimised numbers of suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, placement of purchase orders and expedite to achieve maximum cost benefit to the company.

·         To develop framework agreements or similar arrangements to support ongoing production requirements.

·         To continuously seek measurable improvement opportunities that will contribute to the Company’s profitability.

·         To liaise with other departments, exchanging information and giving purchasing support to their functions.

·         To maintain records of supplier performance, communicating with each supplier to improve performance and or implementing corrective actions where necessary.

·         Maintain accurate records of supplier’s records, source details, lead times and prices. Recommend amendments to the approved supplier list.

  • Resolving problems arising from unclear information on requisitions, specifications and drawings.
  • To ensure material shortages are minimised and the necessary tools are developed to identify and manage materials that are overdue and that this information is distributed to others in a timely manner.
  • To ensure necessary support and control of engineering changes (ECR’s) that directly affect purchased materials. To support requirement for introduction of new parts and customer enquiries.
  • To attend meetings and provide reports and product information as required.

·         The job holder will be a senior member of the Procurement & Supply team and will be expected to deputise for the Head of Procurement & Supply in his absence

·         Manage and develop team members, ensuring they are motivated and carry out their duties to the best of their ability, achieving high standards of safety, cleanliness and tidiness.

What we are looking for

In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:

  • Ability to lead and work as part of “the team”.
  • Ability to work remotely if required.
  • Experience in production purchasing/planning environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities, be multi-tasking and react effectively under pressure
  • Good negotiation skills in a purchasing environment.
  • Good communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills especially email communications and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems. SAP knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Full driving licence
